Abicalçados and NürnbergMesse Brasil launch the Brazilian Footwear Show

In a historic moment for the national footwear sector, the Brazilian Footwear Industries Association (Abicalçados) and NürnbergMesse Brasil launched, on the morning of July 12th, in Novo Hamburgo/RS, the Brazilian Footwear Show (BFSHOW). Focusing on business, complete infrastructure and transparency, the fair will have two editions per year, launching Spring-Summer and Autumn-Winter collections. The first edition will present the Autumn-Winter collections at the Event Center of the Federation of Industries of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (Fiergs), on November 21st-23rd, 2023. Launching collections of the hot season, the second edition of BFSHOW will take place between May 22nd and 24th, 2024, at the Transamérica Expo Center, in São Paulo/SP.

The executive president of Abicalçados, Haroldo Ferreira, pointed out that the realization of a fair made by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs had been the focus of the entity and associates for years, but that it was from 2020 that the idea has gained strength. “The idea was not born yesterday, it has been gestating for a long time, but it was in the first half of 2021 that we conducted a survey to hear from entrepreneurs, the footwear industry and retail, about the perception of physical fairs in a post-pandemic scenario, with regard to the ideal location, dates and editions. It was from the results of this research that we put into practice the Brazilian Footwear Fair. It was a request from the market,” said the executive. According to him, from the demand, a committee of fairs was created, with associates of all sizes and Brazilian footwear poles, which helped define the project.
At the beginning of the year, Abicalçados opened a competition between Brazilian and international promoters for the organization of the fair. "Abicalçados is a representative association and has brought a yearning from the market. We do not have expertise in conducting fairs, so we identified companies to assist us in this mission. Six promoters were invited to participate, five sent proposals, and the chosen one was NürnbergMesse Brasil”, said Ferreira, highlighting that the German promoter, with an office in Brazil, presented the best proposal taking into account the objective of focusing on business, complete infrastructure and transparency, all with cost reduction.

Investments per square meter were also opened at the event and will be up to 30% lower than the average practiced in the shoe fair market. The readjustments, in future editions, will be via IPCA and always placed with transparency to the market.

R$ 1 million for tickets and lodging
At the event, NürnbergMesse Brasil announced the investment of R$ 1 million per year to attract national and international buyers through the Buyer Program, which will bring to BFSHOW some of the main buyers in the national and international market. “This is already a practice carried out by NürnbergMesse in other events around the world, with the aim of leveraging business at fairs”, said the CEO of the promoter, João Paulo Picolo, stressing that investments are all audited.
