Brazilian shoemakers participate in fairs in the United States

With the gradual return of on-site events, Brazilian shoemakers are getting ready to participate in fairs in the United States.They will be supported by Brazilian Footwear, a footwear export support program maintained by the Brazilian Association of Footwear Industries in partnership with the Brazilian Agency for Export and Investment Promotion (Apex-Brazil).

The first stop is at Playtime NY, a children's segment show that takes place from August 1st to 3rd, in New York.The brands Tnin Shoes and Planeta Sea will take part in the show, with support from Brazilian Footwear. The event, in addition to its on-site version, has a B2B (business to business) digital platform, the Playtime Marketplace, in which Dalai Beachwear, Matuschka Mia, Mini Melissa, Planet Sea and Tnin Shoes participate. Not long after that, from August 9th to 11th, the Brazilian brands land in Las Vegas, where they participate in the Magic Las Vegas and Sourcing at MAGIC fairs. The Commercial Promotion Analyst of Abicalçados, Ruísa Scheffel, explains that they are complementary shows, as the first fair is an internationally recognized fashion fair, which includes contemporary brands of footwear, accessories, and clothing, while the second one is multisectoral and focused on companies that export in the private label model - with the customer's brand. The show has a digital platform too, allowing the participation of brands that do not have local representatives. Among those taking part in the fairs, with the support of Brazilian Footwear, are the brands Actvitta, Beira Rio Conforto, BR Sports, Moleca, Molekinha, Molekinho, Vizzano and Modare Ultraconforto, Pegada, Petite Jolie, Carrano and Schutz.

The last stop is at the Atlanta Shoe Market, a regional fair that takes place in Atlanta from August 14th to 16th. “Since it is organized by the association of agents and distributors of the southeast of the United States, the fair has great potential for brands seeking representatives in the country", evaluates Ruísa, noting that the show has been gaining strength every year and covers all footwear niches. The brands Bottero, Pegada, Petite Jolie, Ferrucci, Schutz and Arezzo will take part in the fair with the support of Brazilian Footwear.

Expectation
Regarding growth, exports of Brazilian footwear to the United States in the first semester totaled 6.36 million pairs of shoes that generated 88 million dollars, increases of 44.4% in volume and 30.8% in revenue in relation to the same period of 2020. “The expectation is positive, especially given the economic recovery experienced in the US economy, " Ruísa said, noting that, historically, the United States is the main destination for Brazilian footwear.
