Digital rounds with Russian buyers are expected to generate over $ 2 million.

The digital rounds promoted through Brazilian Footwear, a footwear export support program maintained by the Brazilian Association of Footwear Industries (Abicalçados), in partnership with the Brazilian Agency for Export and Investment Promotion (Apex-Brazil), continue to generate new business opportunities for Brazilian footwear companies.

The latest rounds, with buyers from Russia, took place between June 21st and July 2nd and are expected to generate $ 2.2 million in both deals made and lined up during the event. Abicalçados’ Commercial Promotion analyst, Ruisa Scheffel, highlights that more than 26 thousand pairs of shoes were commercialized during the event alone, which generated $ 366 thousand, a number that should reach $ 2.2 million considering the businesses that were lined up. “To get an idea of the importance of the event, 15% of the total amount exported to Russia in the entire first half of the year were sold during the rounds,” she said, pointing out that, even with the pandemic having affected many of the Russian players, the event enabled assertive meetings which resulted in finalized deals. In total, 109 meetings were held. In addition to meetings with buyers from Russia, the rounds allowed to reach buyers from other countries, such as Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Belarus.Matchmaking

The participants were satisfied with the scheduled meetings. The representative of Usaflex, Rodrigo Matos, highlights that the matchmaking - meetings scheduled taking into consideration demands and offers of the footwear industries - carried out by Abicalçados was effective, generating business opportunities and great contacts for the brand, which wants to expand its presence in the Russian market.

Matthew Giaretta, export manager at Bibi, added: "the organization was impeccable, with matchmaking that provided effective contacts. They did a great job”"

Beira Rio had the same feedback. According to the company's export manager, the service was "tireless" in scheduling meetings.
