Eyeing the North American Market, Abicalçados Prepares Participation in U.S. Trade Shows

Although it has a market share of about 1% in that market, indicating opportunities to increase Brazilian sales there, the United States is currently the main destination for Brazilian footwear abroad

To boost exports to the world's largest footwear market, the Brazilian Footwear Industries Association (Abicalçados), through the Brazilian Footwear program, is preparing the participation of 30 national brands in three trade shows in the United States. Brazilian Footwear is an initiative by the footwear entity in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil).

The first stop will be at the Atlanta Shoe Market in Atlanta. From August 10 to 12, 27 Brazilian brands will participate in the event organized for American distributors and representatives. "This is a show very focused on business and of growing importance in the U.S. market, especially for buyers from the southeastern part of the country," comments Carla Giordani from Abicalçados' Business Area. The novelty of this edition is a space created for international delegations, which, besides Brazil, will host groups from Portugal and South Africa. Participating in the fair with the support of Brazilian Footwear are the brands Arezzo, Schutz, Beira Rio, Moleca, Vizzano, Modare Ultraconforto, Molekinha, Molekinho, Actvitta, BR Sport, Bottero, Itapuã, New Face, Pegada, Ramarim, Comfortflex, Vicenza, Cartago, Ipanema, Melissa, Mini Melissa, Levecomfort, Leveterapia, West Coast, Piccadilly, Usaflex, and Cocco Miami.

Next, from August 19 to 21, the brands Carrano, Lavish by Tricia Milaneze, and Camu Camu will participate in Magic Las Vegas with the support of Brazilian Footwear. This fair focuses on serving the market for higher-value-added products and attracts many U.S. buyers.

Concluding the circuit of trade shows in the United States, the brands Beira Rio, Vizzano, Moleca, Modare Ultraconforto, Molekinha, Molekinho, Actvitta, BR Sport, and Carrano, also supported by Brazilian Footwear, will participate in Magic NY in New York. The fair primarily attracts visitors from all over the United States and Latin America. The show takes place from September 22 to 24.

Market
The U.S. market consumes more than 2.6 billion pairs annually, almost all imported. Although it has a market share of about 1% in that market, indicating opportunities to increase Brazilian sales there, the United States is currently the main destination for Brazilian footwear abroad. Last year, exports from Brazil to that market amounted to USD 227 million, representing almost 20% of the total exported during the period.
