With the last action of the year in November, at BFSHOW, Brazilian Footwear ended 2024 adding R$ 677.4 million (US$ 128.3 million - calculation by the exchange rate average) in business generated by the supported initiatives. With the total contribution of R$ 7.7 million in these actions, the program reports a return on investment (ROI) of R$ 88 for every R$ 1. Brazilian Footwear is an export support program maintained by the Brazilian Footwear Industries Association (Abicalçados) in partnership with the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil).
The Business Coordinator of Abicalçados, Paola Pontin, says that there were 13 physical actions, apart from the maintenance of the BrazilianFootwear.com platform, which brings profiles of Brazilian footwear brands oriented to the international market. The actions were carried out in Italy, the United States, Colombia and Brazil, with the realization of the Buyer Project at BFSHOW. "Today, the exports of companies associated with the Brazilian Footwear program represent more than 75% of the total generated by Brazilian footwear exports. It is a fundamental program, not only for the promotion of business and the image of Brazilian footwear abroad, but also for the qualification of our international market”, comments Paola.
The first signature of the agreement that gave rise to Brazilian Footwear took place in 2000. In that year, Brazilian footwear products had 99 countries as destinations, with a very concentrated focus on the United States and in the private label modality - with the client's brand. Since the program, exports have become more qualified, with the greatest spread of destinations - more than 160 countries receive yellow-green footwear - and more exports the companies' own brands - which today account for 82% of the total shipped.
